Upcoming Fixtures
It’s Gameweek Eight and we are fresh off the back of another international break. There is an interesting array of fixtures coming up as clubs look to get secure some well needed points before the Christmas period. We might sound like a broken record here but after our previous praise of Man United’s transfers and results, it has been quite a rocky road for the Red Devils. Some far from convincing results and questions over squad rotation will put Ole under some real pressure against a strong Leicester City squad where fan favourite Jamie Vardy (£10.5m) has scored four goals in his last three games.
Another manager under pressure is Ralph Hasenhüttl who has not yet managed to bag three points for the Saints this season. They host Leeds in a tricky affair and will be desperate to rid the winless hoodoo against Bielsa’s boisterous boys. If available for selection, eyes will certainly be fixed on Raphinha (£6.6m) who impressed on his international debut with Brazil hailing many plaudits.
Norwich City have surprisingly shown some solidarity as a club and with their manager after quite literally the worst start possible. They face the in-form package from the south coast as Brighton visit Carrow Road. Many fans will be backing the Seagulls backline, who have been fairly solid to keep a clean sheet with Robert Sánchez (£4.6m) being the budget keeper of choice.
Transfers Targets
Aaron Ramsdale (£4.6m). Some eyebrows were raised when his price tag was revealed, but Ramsdale has been influential in the Gunners recent turnaround. Three clean sheets out of four is a great start.
Heung-min Son (£10.1m). The Spurs forward notched two assists in his last game and looked like his old self again. Lots of gaffers think it’s the time to draft him in as he faces a struggling (but soon to be rejuvenated) Newcastle side.
Andros Townsend (£5.6m). Currently one of the best points-per-price players in the game. No one could have expected his Everton career to start the way it has but he has settled into Benítez’s system and looks a constant threat going forward.
ETC Starting XI
Formation: 3-4-3
Goalkeeper: Sánchez (£4.6m)
Defenders: Marcal (£4.6m), White (£4.4m), Duffy (£4.4m)
Midfielders: Jota (£7.6m), Kovačić (£5.2m), Salah (£12.7m), Benrahma (£6.6m)
Strikers: Ronaldo (£12.5m), Antonio (£8.1m), Vardy (£10.5m)
Armband Picks
Mo Salah (£12.7m). The most inform player on FPL right now. Goals and assists, the Egyptian King has got it all. A serial and safe contender as captain this week against Watford. A quick tribute to the Maradona-esque goal against Man City – sheer brilliance.
Jamie Vardy. The Party has started! Five in Five! But, will he still be celebrating against United at Old Trafford?
Romelu Lukaku. One of the most transferred in players recently after Chelsea’s favourable fixture run up to Christmas. Rom has drawn blank in his last three games though. Definitely worth a gamble for the weekend.
There you have it. This is your chance now. So grab Ron or Rom by the horns for a high scoring week. And remember, don’t lose faith FPL managers; there is still a way to go.
